House Mold Inspection and Testing In Tampa, Siesta Key, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Naples, Longboat Key, and the Entire State of Florida
DO YOU SUSPECT YOU OR YOUR FAMILY ARE BEING EXPOSED TO MOLD? YOU MAY NEED A MOLD INSPECTION.
Mold is a product of natural environmental processes and, in small amounts, poses no threat. However, it can become a very real and very dangerous problem at high levels. In fact, for certain individuals who have a low tolerance to mold, even small concentrations can be extremely harmful.
HOUSE MOLD INSPECTION
Maintaining a Healthy Environment
It is important to remember that a home or office interior is a controlled environment. Our homes and office buildings are built to provide protection from the elements. From insulation to energy-efficient doors and windows, we create an ideal environment for temperature control. However, we also ‘lock in’ our oxygen source. By recirculating the same air in a somewhat sealed space, we greatly reduce the quality of the air we breathe. Everything that is present in our air remains in our air.
When mold is present and left untreated, contaminated air is recirculated throughout the entire home. This exacerbates existing respiratory issues and can introduce many other health problems such as watery eyes, infections, migraines, dizziness, and many other serious health risks.
Building Performance Solutions offers the professionally administered mold inspections and testing services necessary to locate and gauge the concentration of mold in your home. By pinpointing the location, our professionals can provide an accurate assessment of the problem and detailed protocols for remediation. BPS finds the mold, determines the risk, and provides instructions on how to remove it.

Types of Mold Testing, Mold Inspection, & Sampling
In some cases, it is necessary to use multiple types of testing, as each test produces specific data. These methods include:
- Air-O-Cell Sampling – Particulate is collected from your indoor and outdoor air environment in order to provide an accurate comparison count. This testing method does not evaluate spore viability.
- Impaction Sampling – Using gravity or pressure, a petri dish is plated with airborne particulate and incubated for laboratory identification. This method represents a small sample of the entire indoor environment.
- EnviroSWAB Sampling – ‘Dust’ that includes viable mold spores is collected, plated to a petri dish and tested in the lab to identify and count live colonies forming units (CFU). In this method, only viable mold that has settled out in the collection location is recognized.
- EnviroTAPE Sampling – This method is used where visible mold is present. A tape is applied directly to the mold and lifted. The lab identifies and counts the number of dead or live CFU. This method does not recognize the viability of mold growth: only the presence of mold.
- Bulk Sampling – In some cases, it is necessary to conduct laboratory testing on specific construction materials in order to identify and count the number of dead and/or live CFU. This method does not recognize the viability of mold growth: only the presence of mold.
